Brain SENSE: Lifestyle Practices for Optimum Brain Health (60 minutes)

In this workshop you will learn what research says about lifestyle practices related to maintaining and even improving brain function. Dr. Sasser will explain differences between age-related memory changes and indicators of Mild Cognitive Impairment and Alzheimer’s disease, and will discuss reversible causes of memory difficulty.

Participants completing this program should be able to:

  • Describe basic brain functions and neuroplasticity
  • Identify age-related memory changes and indicators of mild cognitive impairment and dementia
  • Discuss lifestyle practices for optimizing brain function and ways in which each can impact cognitive health

Maximizing Attention and Memory (60 minutes)

In this workshop you will learn how memory works, and will experience the importance of attention and the limitations of short-term memory. You will also learn Dr. Sasser’s PAVE strategies for improving long-term memory.

Participants completing this program should be able to:

  • Explain how the brain processes and stores information
  • Describe the role of attention in memory and ways to improve attention
  • Use strategies for improving memory of names, information, and tasks

An Introduction to Emotional Intelligence (60 minutes)

Emotions influence the way we act and react in the workplace. In this workshop you will acquire an understanding of how your brain processes emotions and will learn skills for increasing emotional intelligence to help you communicate more effectively, manage stress, and improve social interactions.

Participants completing this program should be able to:

  • Define emotional intelligence and identify its benefits
  • Explain the components of emotional intelligence
  • Describe strategies for recognizing and managing emotions
